The Internet provider everyone loves to hate is gearing up to offer one gigabit per second Internet service in five U.S. cities.

They’re finally starting to push this out. Everyone knows it will be awhile until it reached out here.

On the Comcast website they are claiming to offer 2Gbps residential fiber services in the greater Hartford area. However I haven’t heard of anyone getting it successfully yet.

Comcast has finally made a cable MODEM that can reach speeds over 1Gbps. They have accomplished this in the Philadelphia area, where their corp HQ is located, using the brand new DOCSIS 3.1 system. They are still in the testing phase of these new cable speeds. Soon they hope to release this to the large city markets and hopefully to all Comcast areas. I do not see this coming to North West CT anytime soon. This breakthrough means Comcast can finally compete with products like Verizon FIOS, AT&T GigaPower and Google Fiber!
